(Resources for Using It's Disgusting—and We Ate It! in School Activities)
Instructions to Students:Subjects: social studies, art, P.E., recess
Based on: world map end papers (inside covers) of It's Disgusting
Purpose: to have fun , stay in shape, and learn about the world
1. Each student makes four tiny Play-Doh models of ONE disgusting food from the map in the book: one red model, one blue, one green, and one yellow.
2. Chalk a LARGE world map on the playground, with weird foods from the book on every continent. Place your four models on the correct part of the world map, spacing them to prevent collisions when kids run to pick them up during the game.
3. Split the class into four teams—one called the red team, one blue, one green, and one yellow. The teams line up side by side the same distance from the map. The teacher calls out the name of a country and the front kid in each team runs to grab the weird food from the correct country. As soon as a student grabs the right food, the teacher calls out her or his name and the round is over. The teacher announces which continent and country the food is from and the student goes to the back of his team's line. The winning kid's team in that round keeps the food till the whole game's end; the team with the most foods at the end wins.
No pushing or grabbing or hitting other players! Students who interfere with other kids will be disqualified!
